For this apartment on Jellicoe road, perched on an upper-floor unit, we installed a dual-layer curtain system with double pleats, pairing sheer day curtains with full-length blackout drapes. The client requested soft daylight for the day and total privacy and darkness by night, all while preserving the expansive city view.
The result is a gentle balance of openness and privacy. The sheer curtains filter daylight into a soft, diffused glow, while the blackout curtains frame the space with its deep colour that matches the interior marble styles. When drawn, the sheer panels maintain a connection to the city beyond; when closed, the blackout layer ensures darkness for watching movies.
