Sheer Curtains

Sheer Curtains use a light, translucent fabric that filters daylight while softening direct views from outside.
They reduce glare, keep rooms bright, and provide daytime privacy without fully darkening the space. Sheers are commonly used on their own in living areas or layered with a heavier night curtain for full coverage after dark, which is the standard configuration for Singapore master bedrooms.
Sheer fabrics are available across our entire range of curtain systems and within all three fabric collections – Juliette, Lumiere, and Monet.
Properties
Soft, Filtered Light
Light, translucent fabric that diffuses incoming sunlight, reducing glare while keeping rooms bright and airy.
Daytime Privacy
Obscures direct lines of sight from outside during the day without darkening the room. Pairs with a heavier night curtain when full privacy is needed after dark.
Visual Softness
Adds texture and fluidity to a window without weight or volume. A common starting point for layered curtain systems in Singapore bedrooms.
Available Across Systems
Sheer fabric is offered in S-fold, pleated, and roller systems, and in all three of our fabric collections.
Sheer Curtains in Singapore Homes
Daytime Privacy in Dense Housing
HDB blocks face neighbouring blocks at relatively close range, and condo apartments often face common corridors or other units across a courtyard. A sheer curtain obscures the direct line of sight into the home during the day without darkening the room or blocking the view out. This is the everyday daytime mode for most living-room and bedroom curtains in Singapore.
Glare Control on Bright Faces
Singapore's overhead sun and direct east or west exposure can produce strong glare on bright surfaces and screens. A sheer curtain diffuses that light into the room, reducing harsh contrast without making the room dark. For west-facing living rooms in particular, a sheer-only setup can be combined with a screen-grade roller blind behind for additional UV reduction.
Layered with a Night Curtain
In Singapore bedrooms, sheers are typically layered with a blackout or dimout curtain on a separate track. The sheer manages the day; the heavier curtain takes over at night. This two-track setup is the standard master-bedroom configuration in HDB BTO and condo renovations, with both curtains hidden in a shared false-ceiling pelmet.
Available Systems

S-Fold Curtains
Smooth, continuous waves that show off the lightness of sheer fabric. The most common pairing for modern Singapore living rooms and bedrooms.

Pleated Curtains
Structured folds that give sheer fabric a more tailored finish. Suits rooms where the curtain is both functional and decorative.

Roller Blinds
A flat sheer panel that rolls up when not in use. Suited to studies, kitchens, and windows where minimal stack-back is preferred.
Climate Considerations
Humidity and Sheer Fabric Care
Singapore's relative humidity sits between roughly 70 and 90 percent year-round. Sheer fabrics in our range are polyester or polyester-blend weaves, chosen because they hang lightly in humid conditions, dry quickly after washing, and resist yellowing from prolonged sun exposure.
UV Exposure on Sheer Fabric
Lighter and cheaper sheer fabrics may show edge-fading or yellowing over years of direct sun exposure, particularly on west-facing windows. The fabrics in our range are colour- stabilised for sun exposure, but consistently sun-exposed installations benefit from periodic rotation of the panels or a screen-grade roller blind behind the sheer for additional UV reduction.
Choosing Sheer for Specific Rooms
Living Room
A standalone sheer is the most common living-room treatment in modern Singapore homes. It softens daylight, provides privacy from neighbouring blocks, and keeps the view to the outside. For homes wanting deeper light control, a layered sheer-plus- dimout setup adds a second mode.
Master and Children's Bedrooms
Sheers are almost always layered with a blackout or dimout night curtain in bedrooms. The sheer is the daytime mode; the heavier curtain handles sleep. The two-track configuration is the default master-bedroom setup.
Dining Room and Study
Sheer-only installations work well in dining rooms, studies, and home offices, where soft daytime light is wanted and full darkness is rarely needed. For studies with a monitor facing the window, a screen-grade roller blind behind the sheer is a common addition for glare control.
Internal-Facing Windows
HDB units with bedroom windows facing internal corridors or shared common areas often use a single sheer curtain for daytime privacy. The sheer obscures direct lines of sight without darkening the room.
When Should You Choose Sheer Curtains?
Sheer Over Dimout or Blackout
Sheer is the lightest of the three fabric weights. Dimout reduces light without fully blocking it, suiting living rooms and studies that need softness rather than darkness. Blackoutblocks 99–100% of light through the weave, designed for sleep and AV. Sheer is chosen when the priority is filtered light, visual softness, and daytime privacy, not light control.
Sheer as the Day Layer in a Layered System
In bedrooms and rooms that need both daytime softness and evening darkness, sheer is rarely chosen alone. The standard configuration is sheer plus a heavier night curtain on separate tracks. The sheer does the daytime work; the night curtain handles privacy and sleep.
