Dimout Curtains

Dimout Curtains Singapore
Sheer Curtains Singapore

Dimout Curtains use a medium-weight fabric that softens light without fully blocking it.

They sit between sheer and blackout, reducing glare and offering strong daytime privacy while keeping rooms visibly lit. Dimout suits Singapore living rooms, dining areas, and studies where neither full darkness nor full transparency is wanted.

Dimout fabrics are available across our entire range of curtain systems and within all three fabric collections – Juliette, Lumiere, and Monet.

Properties

Reduced Light, Not Blocked

Medium-weight fabric that softens incoming light. Rooms stay visibly lit during the day while glare and heat are noticeably reduced.

Strong Daytime Privacy

Denser than sheer, dimout obscures interior views from outside without darkening the room. Suitable for ground-floor units and rooms facing common corridors.

Versatile Across Rooms

A balanced choice for living rooms, dining areas, and studies, where neither full darkness nor full transparency is what you want.

Available Across Systems

Dimout fabric is offered in S-fold, pleated, and roller systems, and across all three of our fabric collections.

Dimout Curtains in Singapore Homes

The Middle Ground for Living Spaces

Singapore living rooms and dining areas typically face either another HDB block or a corridor across a courtyard, with a few hours of direct sun depending on orientation. Sheer-only setups often feel too revealing in the evening; blackout setups make daytime spaces too dark. Dimout sits in between, reducing afternoon glare and giving evening privacy without darkening the room.

Daytime Privacy in Ground-Floor Units

HDB ground-floor and second-storey units often face common walkways, void decks, or gardens at close range. A dimout curtain provides reliable daytime privacy from passers-by without making the room dark. For those rooms, dimout is usually a better fit than sheer, which can still allow silhouette visibility from close range.

Layered with a Sheer Curtain

In rooms that want both daytime softness and stronger evening privacy, dimout pairs well with a sheer curtain on a separate track. The sheer manages the day; the dimout takes over in the evening when interior lights are on. This is a common living-room and study configuration in Singapore HDB and condo renovations.

S-Fold Curtains Singapore

S-Fold Curtains

Continuous waves with a contemporary feel. A common pairing with dimout fabric in living and dining areas.

Pleated Curtains

Pleated Curtains

Structured folds that hold their shape well, lending dimout fabric a more tailored finish for traditional or transitional interiors.

Roller Blinds Singapore

Roller Blinds

A flat dimout panel that rolls up cleanly. Suited to studies, kitchens, or as a secondary layer behind sheer curtains.

Climate Considerations

Glare on East and West Faces

Singapore's overhead sun produces strong glare through east-facing windows in the morning and west-facing windows in the late afternoon. Dimout fabric reduces both without making the room dark, which suits living spaces that are used through the day. For consistently bright west-facing rooms, dimout can be paired with a screen-grade roller blind behind for additional UV reduction.

Humidity and Fabric Care

Singapore's 70 to 90 percent year-round humidity favours polyester and polyester-blend dimout weaves, which hang well in humid conditions and dry quickly after washing. Dimout panels can be removed from the track for cleaning. Most fabrics in our range are recommended for cold gentle machine wash or dry cleaning, with most homes washing curtains once or twice a year.

Choosing Dimout for Specific Rooms

Living Room

Dimout is a strong standalone choice for HDB and condo living rooms, particularly those facing other blocks or close neighbours. Layered with a sheer day curtain, it gives both daytime softness and evening privacy on a two-track system.

Dining Area and Home Office

Dimout suits dining rooms, studies, and home offices that need glare control without darkness. For workspaces with a monitor facing the window, dimout reduces screen glare more than sheer does without darkening the room the way blackout would.

Ground-Floor and Second-Storey Units

Where windows face walkways, gardens, or void decks at close range, dimout gives reliable daytime privacy while keeping the room bright. A common HDB ground-floor configuration is dimout curtains in living and dining areas, with blackout curtains in the bedrooms.

Bedroom (Less Common)

Dimout is occasionally used in bedrooms where the occupant doesn't need full darkness for sleep. Most Singapore master bedrooms still use blackout for the night layer; dimout is more common in guest rooms or secondary bedrooms where some daylight transmission is acceptable.

When Should You Choose Dimout Curtains?

Dimout Over Sheer or Blackout

Sheer fabrics filter light and provide soft views but do not darken the room. Blackoutblocks 99–100% of light, designed for sleep and projection. Dimout sits between the two: it lowers light levels and heat without making the room dark, and it gives stronger daytime privacy than sheer. Choose dimout when the priority is comfort and glare control rather than darkness.

Layered with a Sheer Curtain

In rooms used through the day and evening, dimout pairs well with a sheer curtain on a separate track. The sheer is the daytime mode; the dimout adds privacy in the evening. This is a common HDB and condo living-room configuration.
